Unlocking "The Secret" Within You - Part I

"The Secret", the DVD and best-selling book, is opening up a little known path of self-awareness and enlightenment to the minds of many. I say little known in relativity to the current world population, but there are quite a few who have studied the Law of Attraction. It has long been studied and utilized by New Age religions, spiritual proponents and Buddhists. Quantum physicists are now linking spirituality and science through very practical experiments with the Law of Attraction.

You don’t have to own the DVD or the book in order to be able to practically apply "The Secret". To hone in on your personal power and the Law of Attraction, all you have to do is pay attention to your life.

What you focus on expands. What you think about becomes your reality.
This is "The Secret". Even Napoleon Hill, writer of "Think and Grow Rich", wrote about the Law of Attraction back in 1937:
“Truly, ‘thoughts are things’, and powerful things at that...”
And if all these are true, then you are already applying the Law of Attraction every day you are alive.

Remember,

the Law of Attraction is a Law of the universe. And by virtue of being so, this Law is always in action, whether you are aware of it or not. Gravity is a law, yes? It doesn’t work sometimes and not work at other times. It doesn’t work when you think about it and not work when you don’t. It works whether you think about it or not, whether you believe it exists or not. A lot of folks didn’t, at first, believe in Newton’s theory. Going back further, a lot of people didn’t believe, at first, that the Earth was round. These folks were sure that the Earth was flat and had many arguments to prove their point -- being that they thought they were right. The Earth didn’t one day become round because the majority of people believed it was so. The Earth has always been round, is round and will remain round, whether we think about it, believe in it, know about it or not.

The Laws of the Universe will always be in effect. They are not like Rules of the Road, which many people believe were made to be broken. Laws of the Universe do not get broken. They are in effect at all times. What’s hardest about accepting this fact (as it was for those who had to wrap their minds around the world being round) is that you want to be right. You want to believe that you have no control over your life and that you are a victim of it. I know, I know. You don’t see yourself as a victim. But let me pose this question: if you are not a master of your existence then what are you? If you do not believe that you have control over creating your life then what do you believe? If you do not think of yourself as a victim, then what does it mean to have no control or power over what happens in life?

You can’t have your cake and eat it too. We, as human beings, like to believe that there are levels of truth. We believe that we can use measurements to compare things. What does a cup of rice and a barrel of rice have in common? It’s all rice. Measuring out emotions and thoughts don’t make them different. For example, comparison is a mechanism we use to make us feel “not so bad” about being mean to someone. “At least, I wasn’t vicious...” comes the explanation. Yes, but you were mean. Meanness is meanness, especially to the person it is aimed at. A person’s heart was never slightly broken. We use adverbs and adjectives to give meaning to our doubt and insecurities, as if to halt them from having any effect on us or others. “I was only slightly nervous.” “I’m a little sad.” Or we give them meaning so we can get a greater or the greatest effect from our words.“I am really frustrated.” “I have a right to be ridiculously angry.” In effect, we use measurements to give weight or deny power to our words.

Words are words. They have power. The only way you can deny them their power is when you don’t live up to them. When you use words to state who you are and what you’re up to in this world, the words have power. When you use words to tear down other people, the words have power. When you say something that you don’t mean and that you’re unwilling to do or fulfill, your words will disempower you and by virtue of your disempowerment, they are bereft of power themselves. The only one who can decide which power your words will have is you. The power can be constructive or destructive, but words will always have power. The truest power your words can have is when the words themselves are true.

Thoughts lead to Words, and Words lead to Actions. This path is known as Integrity of Action and is what the Law of Attraction is based upon. Let your thoughts be empowering, your words speak your truth and your deeds fulfill upon both thought and word. This is the first lesson in the Application of the Law of Attraction aka “The Secret”.
